mindfulness

"Mindfulness helps us to identify hidden emotional patterns, bringing them into the light of awareness so that we can begin to free ourselves from their hold." Emotional Alchemy by Tara Bennett-Goleman

What is DBT?

mindfulness
distress tolerance
emotion regulation
interpersonal effectiveness

Why DBT?

DBT was originally developed for individuals with borderline personality disorder. Over the years, therapists have found that DBT can benefit people across the board. Anyone who has struggles with emotion regulation and those who simply want to learn coping skills to deal with life can benefit from this group.
Mindfulness module

Mindfulness skills form the foundation of all the other DBT skills learned. Therefore, it is essential that client’s have a working knowledge of mindfulness prior to entering Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectivenesss or Distress Tolerance modules. Core Mindfulness skills are covered in the first module. For those clients who join the DBT group after the mindfulness module is completed, it will be essential that clients receive mindfulness skills through either their individual therapist or with Stacy Hall.
